Challenge
Conducting safe and timely pediatric resuscitations require clinicians’ knowledge of the ‘what’ and the ‘where’ of items in a weight-based pediatric code cart. However, code cart for pediatric patients is organized based on the length and weight ranges of patients, hence resulting in variation in code cart organizations. Additionally, code carts are usually locked, except during the infrequent emergency when pediatric resuscitation is needed or during training sessions, which results in a lack of familiarity with pediatric code carts. To increase access to the code cart, engineers at the Jump Simulation Center developed an Augmented Reality (AR) application for mobile phones to provide demand access to a fully stocked, standardized, weight-based virtual pediatric code cart, called Code Cart AR.
What is the feasibility of Code Cart AR app for training clinicians about pediatric code cart content?
How do we improve the usability of Code Cart AR app to support pediatric code cart training?
