Widya is a design researcher. She received her doctorate degree in architecture at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Widya is passionate about human-centered research and design. Her research is centered around the topic of person-environment transactions to navigate the changes across the life course. One particular user group that she is interested in is older adults with or without physical and cognitive ability. Throughout her doctoral training, she has been involved in multiple research projects that investigate older adults’ experiences to age in place. Her dissertation research was on food-related activities (food preparation, cooking, eating, cleaning) among older Indonesian women to understand the personal and built environmental challenges and adaptive strategies for independence in later life. To refresh her mind, Widya enjoys hiking and cooking Indonesian food.
